In front of my stand at the RHS Spring Garden show in Malvern

It was fun meeting up with returning customers and fellow exhibitors at the Spring garden show at Malvern last week and over the weekend. The show ended with a very dramatic storm of thunder and lightening and I was so glad to be exhibiting inside one the barns this year!
A woodland scene

I couldn’t resist popping a few fairies into this painting and I think I shall paint in a few more woodland animals too. I find it easier to finish my paintings at home in my studio to refine details and complete with finishing touches such as specks of gold.
Demonstrating painting at Wisley RHS Gardens

Here I am working on several paintings. A woodland scene was inspired by the surrounding trees and undergrowth.
A study of an Anglesey beach scene

While I am exhibiting at events I like to get on with some work. This painting of Anglesey isn’t quite finished; I like to add depth of colour with gouache and detail to give the painting atmosphere and movement.
A romantic Victorian style photograph

I enjoyed dressing up for this photograph where I’m sitting amongst the long grasses and ferns. I had to stay still for about ten seconds.
A Fairy tale Woodland photograph

This Victorian style woodland photograph was taken by my friend and photographer Sharon Aston. We spent a day in a woodland area near Helston in Cornwall experimenting with different poses and locations. There was a beautiful “Gunnera manicata” giant rhubarb plant growing near a stream with giant leaves which was perfect for the atmosphere that […]
The Finished painting of Severnside South

I have finished this commissioned painting and I have taken it to the framers to be framed. I created a similar painting a few years ago of this same scene but in autumn. I am so pleased that spring has finally arrived and I think the bright greens are reflected in this painting. I have […]
White cat and shells

This painting is more imaginative. I like to use the round table at home as a prop and although we don’t have a white cat I thought it would work well with the white shells in a poetic way.
A harbour view

This study is a straight view out of the window without any distortion. I was pleased with the bold composition.
Sea shells and Flowers

In this study I have reflected the aqua marine blues of the sea in the foreground and I have used a wide angle so that you can see much of the harbour.
