Garden by the sea
This is an intricate painting of a grapevine, birds and flowers which I imagine could flourish in a warm climate by the sea. The birds look a little bit exotic, a kind of very colourful pigeon!
Craster Harbour
Harbours are one of favourite subjects and this week I have just completed this painting of Craster harbour in Northumberland. I have included some fishing boats and I can still remember the smell of kippers. I think I shall have to incorporate Kippers into my next painting!
Painting Lindisfarne
Here I am painting Lindisfarne. I am working with gouache on paper and I have just added some pearlescent pigment to give the painting a little shimmer.
Lindisfarne
I have begun a new series of paintings based on the Northumberland coast. Here is the first painting of Lindisfarne. It is so atmospheric there and the skies are amazing!
Beach Huts and Boats
This week I have been working on a small painting in gouache on paper. I have always wanted a beach hut!
New painting of The Fox and the Crow
This week I have been working on a new painting to add to my mythical collection. I have called it “The Fox and the Crow” and it is based on the Aesop’s fable.
Exhibition at Ludlow Assembly Rooms
My exhibition at Ludlow Assembly Rooms is on until the 7th March and features a wide range of my original paintings including this painting of Charlestown. Ludlow is a beautiful medieval town with a wonderful castle and rich history.
A Frosty Morning
Pity about the rain this week! I am already missing the frosty mornings. Here is a recent small imaginary landscape that depicts just what I’m missing.
The Snowy Owl
I can hear owls at night, it’s one of my favourite sounds …
The Boathouse
I have always thought how lovely it must be to have a boathouse. Here’s a new painting – a small study in gouache and ink.
