Terraced Houses and Back Gardens

When we look out of our attic window in Bewdley, we can see a beautiful patchwork of back gardens. I love to use a combination of different viewpoints, an arial view and a direct view of the houses on the street.

The Mythical Cottage Garden

There’s nothing like a bit of escapism. I have set the scene in Autumn and this imaginative painting of a Tudor cottage by the sea has an Angel, Pegasus and a fairy in the garden. I feel that this painting could be an illustration for the beginning of a children’s story.

A Master class at the Autumn Show in Malvern

Demonstrating painting is an important role for me, especially when I’m exhibiting at events. It was lovely to have Autumn help me this year. Here she is showing us her beautiful rainbow painting.

The Fairy and the Unicorn

I continue to use recurring themes for my mythical range of paintings. I have used a combination of watercolour, gouache and ink to give this painting a delicate quality.

A Mermaid sitting on a rock

Here’s another Mermaid painting, a variation on the theme. This imaginary place is inspired by Mousehole in Cornwall.

A Mermaid at St.Michael’s Mount

It’s enjoyable to create an imaginary combination of real places with storytelling. I have placed here a mermaid sitting on a rock. My dance continues to influence my painting and this Summer I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to play a Mermaid in an historical dance with Margaret Morris Movement at Chichester University.

The Red Fishing Boat

I always like to keep myself busy when I’m exhibiting. Last weekend I was exhibiting at Hever castle in Kent with “Craft in Focus”. It is such a beautiful setting and although the weather wasn’t very good, I still managed to keep working. I was reflecting on my holidays and time spent in Cornwall. This […]

Mythical Autumnal Landscape

Last week I created this new painting for my Mythical Range. We can hear the owls at night and the leaves are beginning to fall from the trees. I think Autumn is my favourite season.

An Unexpected Visitor

Recently we have had a mischievous cat creep into our front garden. She has even jumped onto the window sill looking for our dog Nipper. The other day they came to blows when we were taking Nipper for a walk. I think he was guarding his territory. Fortunately she got away!

A view through the window

There’s nothing better than enjoying a cup of tea and a cake on a Summer’s afternoon. We live in an old cottage overlooking some terraced houses, although I have used artistic licence making them brightly coloured in this painting.
