A Barn Owl in Landscape

This time of year has a special pink light. I think it’s a combination of the cold and the sun which is low in the sky. In this painting the sky is a soft pink which is mirrored in the colours of the leaves, trees and hills. I have also chosen a spring palette to […]
The finished painting of Dancing on the beach

Here’s the finished painting of the study I made for the demonstration. I enjoyed the demonstration with Hinckley Art society and I have decided that the women dancing are on a beach in Greece and dancing for the fisherman in the hope that they will return with lots of fish!
Illustration for Balqees Honey

This painting is one of five illustrations that I have recently completed for Balqees Honey to be used on their honey pots. This one is for Madagascar. It includes the plants, flowers and trees that you would typically find in Madagascar.
Sketch for a new painting, “Dancers on the beach”

Next week I shall painting for Hinckley Art Society near Leicester and I am preparing the painting that I shall be demonstrating. In this sketch I am creating a pencil drawing followed by soft shades of blues and greens. I want to keep this painting ethereal and flowing.
Adding Final touches

Here I am adding final touches to one of to one of my winter paintings. I am looking forward to Spring and I notice that my colour palette changes in the New Year to fresher colours reflecting the longer days and lighter mornings.
The Magical Woodland

Fairy tales and mythology tell stories of fairies and “the little people” in the woods. It’s easy to imagine them flying through the trees in the winter light and the frosty landscape.
A Winter’s Night

The time leading up to Christmas is so exciting, especially for small children. This year the cold snap really added to the atmosphere. In this painting I wanted to convey the chilly weather alongside the added movement of the animals in the landscape.
Working in my studio during Advent, Christmas 2022

The Christmas trees are up and I have finished my events for the year. Most of my orders have been sent and I just have a few more jobs to do. I really enjoy Advent, seeing family and friends including time to paint.
Winter Woodland Animals

When we walk in the woodlands and forests you can sense the animals around you. Sometimes you can hear the caw of a raven or little scuttling sounds in the undergrowth. It’s lovely to think of the little creatures nestled underground and cosy in their nests.
Autumnal Gardens

This small painting was inspired by the changing seasons from summer into autumn and the impending winter. Although the gardens are a little bare and many of the summer flowers have died I still see some winter vegetables and I feel optimistic for bulbs that will flower in spring.
