This commission which I began before Christmas is finally finished. It will be exciting to deliver it to the owners who have waited patiently for it to be completed. The final details and finishing touches are important and can’t be rushed but it is very satisfying when these small painterly things have been done, such as mushrooms, flowers and leaves. I thinks it helps to reflect on the painting as it progresses and I normally have an intuitive feeling when it is completed. I’m careful not to overdo it and to keep the painting fresh.
